Kimmarie Slade Obituary
Kimmarie Slade, age 66 of Wynantskill passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Born on March 25th, 1960, Kimmarie faced life’s challenges with remarkable strength and determination. After overcoming breast cancer twice years earlier, she fought her greatest battle during the last two years as she navigated metastatic breast cancer with grace, resilience, and unwavering courage. Throughout her journey, Kimmarie remained devoted to the people she loved most and continued to live her life with laughter, kindness, and an enduring spirit. Above all she was a loving wife, a caring mother and mother in law, the best grandmother, and the truest friend to all.

Kimmarie dedicated 37 years of service to the state of NY before happily retiring from OCFS. Kimmarie made countless, timeless friendships and held those in her offices near to her heart. Throughout her life she formed friendships that lasted her a lifetime. Whether it be the friends from highschool with a bond so strong it carried into adulthood, friends made from her children’s school or gatherings with family. Kimmarie never met a stranger for long. Her warmth, kindness, and ability to make people feel welcome made her a friend to all. Those who knew Kimmarie will always remember her larger than life personality, her contagious laugh and a smile that never dimmed. A true life of the party anywhere she went. She loved deeply, laughed often, and created memories that will be treasured forever.

Kimmarie found joy in many of ways, she loved her ceramic classes and creating pottery for those she loved. She had a wonderful connection to music and wouldn’t ever turn down a chance to dance. She loved to travel with her family and friends, especially to her favorite place Florida. Kimmarie loved to celebrate any occasion, but her most favorite time was Christmas time, for decades she had one of the best Christmas parties anyone could put together, from her 13 Christmas trees decorated around the house, the famous Dollar Tree gifts she wrapped for everyone who attended, she truly made Christmas the most special time for her family and friends. She was actively involved in her community PTA president when her children were in grade school, religion teacher at St Jude’s church for many years as her children grew up and always one of the loudest cheerleaders for her children’s sporting events.

As a young woman, Kimmarie first met Christopher in the late 70s. Though the romance was brief, life would eventually bring them back to one another. In the years between Kimmarie met Michael and had a beautiful 20 year marriage and created her greatest gifts her children Kyle and Thomasine. While their marriage came to an end, their shared love for their children remained constant. Creating a beautiful, unique family dynamic. Kimmarie and Christopher found their way back to one another and built a life together rooted in friendship, endearing love, faith and countless adventures together.

Kimmarie was predeceased by her eldest brother Jim in 1976, her beloved mother Joan and her cherished father Gene. She is survived by her beloved husband Chris, the father of her children Michael Piazza, Kyle (Becky) Piazza, Anthony, Tyler, Kayleigh and Thomasine (Joe Cooper) Piazza, Nicholas and Natalie; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and countless lifelong friends. Kimmarie is also survived by her older brother Tim (“TK”) Kindlon. They share decades of memories together, from their childhood at Snyder’s Lake, hanging around anywhere in Averill Park, trips across the country together and countless trips to Daytona Beach, Florida to visit their favorite person their mother Joan. Tim would often say Kimmarie was his biggest tattle tale, a title she always wore proudly from childhood to adulthood, but beneath the teasing was a bond built on love, loyalty and a lifetime of laughter.

Of all the roles she held throughout her life, being a grandmother brought her the greatest joys. She treasured every moment spent with her 5 grandchildren and loved every moment she had with them as they grew. Her family is her proudest accomplishment, and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on through them.

To know Kimmarie was to know laughter, loyalty and unconditional love. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will always live on in the family she created and adored, the friendships she cherished and the countless memories she leaves behind.

Kimmarie’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Peter’s hospital, the staff of the Hospice community and her team at NYOH. Each and every member Kimmarie and her family encountered during this time was thoughtful, caring and supportive.
