Calling all MBC researchers & patient advocates!
Are you a scientist working in the field of metastatic breast cancer research, or an MBC patient advocate? If so, we need your help to review letters of intent and full grant applications so as to fund the most impactful research. All letters of intent (short statements of scientific interest) and full grants require scientific and patient advocate reviewers. All reviewers receive a small honorarium as a token of our appreciation for their indispensable contributions. If you are interested in either, read on for requirements and expected timelines for review.
Become a Patient Advocate Reviewer
Patient advocate reviewers (PARs) are integral to our review process, as we strive to identify and fund research projects that can make the greatest potential impact for people living with metastatic breast cancer. Each letter of intent and full grant requires at least one PAR (although you do not need to do both).
Requirements
- Have close, lived experience with MBC as either a patient, caregiver or loved one.
- Submit a brief application
- Complete the METAvivor PAR training, which consists of training modules to be completed at your leisure, followed by a live Q&A session. Modules and the live Q&A are expected to take approximately 2 hours total.
- Commit to reviewing your assigned LOIs or full applications by the given deadline. NOTE: not everyone will be assigned an LOI or full application each grant cycle, depending on number of reviewers and number of LOIs/applications received.
- Take part in the mentor program
- If you have never reviewed before (required)
- If you have reviewed before and want to mentor (optional), please reach out to DirectorOfResearch@metavivor.org
Peer advocate reviewer applications are accepted on a rolling basis. If you are interested, please fill out this short form and someone will be in touch before our next training.
Become a Scientific (Peer) Reviewer
Scientific reviewers are also a core part of our review process, and each LOI and full grant requires two scientific reviewers. If you are interested in reviewing grants, please contact DirectorOfResearch@metavivor.org.
Requirements
- Be active in MBC research at the basic, translational, or clinical level.
- Complete the required training/watch the required training video
- Commit to reviewing assigned LOIs or full grants by the given deadline.
