Kathy passed away a hero days after her 70th birthday following a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.
She was the favorite sister to Bo (Bonnie) and Jamie (Beth), fun aunt ‘Kath-o-leen’, loving mother to Jennifer and Kristen (PJ), and doting grandmother to Grayson and Caleb.
Kathy grew up in Falls Church, Va. She attended Bishop O’Connell high school and George Mason University. She’s been a resident of Fairfax City for the past 40 years surrounded by neighbors who became great friends. She dedicated 37 years to federal service, with 34 years of service to the U.S. Department of Justice. She retired in 2011 as the Deputy Chief of the FOIA Unit for the Criminal Division.
Kathy enjoyed walking along the Outer Banks beaches, the color blue, spoiling her grandchildren, traveling, lunch dates with friends, and spending time with her family. She loved all of her rescue pets and would have adopted all of the homeless dogs if she could.
She was selfless, caring, independent, and an inspiration to so many.
