Meet Roxana Guerra, Bilingual Patient Advocate who has been living with metastatic breast cancer for nearly 10 years.
Roxana was initially diagnosed with stage IIIC breast cancer in December 2015 at the age of 41 and was restaged to stage IV in November 2016. Since then, she has been living with no evidence of active disease.
Roxana has dedicated herself to breast cancer advocacy, particularly for Spanish-speaking women and men in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. She participates in support groups at Nueva Vida, where she provides emotional support and serves as a voice for her community.
She is an alumna of Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s Hear My Voice program and has completed the Latino Cancer Advocate Training. Roxana has also reviewed research posters for GRASP and served on several breast cancer committees.
Today, she continues her work as a breast cancer coach and Group Support Assistant for Nueva Vida’s metastatic breast cancer patients, providing emotional support, peer mentorship, and connections to resources in both Spanish and English.
Roxana will join us for METAvivor’s Stage IV Stampede, October 5–6 in Washington, DC.
