Alpha Lillstrom Cheng

Vice President

Alpha Lillstrom Cheng (she/her) is a politically connected attorney and an effective voice for advancing federal policy in Washington D.C. Focusing on healthcare policy since 2007, she engages lawmakers through her bipartisan network of colleagues and connections in the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, non-profit, and private sectors in order to successfully shepherd policy change. As a registered federal lobbyist since 2014, Alpha works with Congress to draft and shape legislation while empowering stakeholders to meaningfully participate in the process while providing insightful guidance and strategic advice to professional associations, companies, and non-profit organizations.

A successful advocate recognizes the importance of providing a compelling and consistent message on Capitol Hill. Alpha was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer at age 35, while working in the U.S. Senate as a health policy advisor. In that role, it became clear to her that almost all of the policy focus was on awareness and early-stage treatment support so she is eager to help educate policymakers so that life-saving and life-changing resources are made available to metastatic breast cancer patients as well.

Alpha is eager to lift up METAvivor’s mission to improve policies for individuals with stage IV breast cancer and increase MBC-focused research funding through her network of health policy advisors and advocates in both the public and private sectors. She is thrilled with the opportunity to bring her experience and expertise to the METAvivor Board and Advocacy program.
