Taking action to share hope & drive breakthroughs
As an organization guided by the priorities of patients, we are working to transition metastatic breast cancer from a terminal diagnosis to a chronic, manageable disease with a decent quality of life.
Our Three Pillars
METAvivor’s work is strategically focused around the three core pillars of research, advocacy and support, with the goal of maximizing our impact.
Research
METAvivor is the only organization in the US that uses a peer-and-patient-advocate-review process to exclusively fund MBC research. We award research grants to individuals with a clinical or other doctoral degree who are actively engaged in MBC research, and whose proposals show distinct promise in making a difference for the stage 4 breast cancer community.
Advocacy
We empower our community members to speak out and make a difference by providing resources, and coordinating opportunities for people to take action together. Anyone who cares enough about the issues can become a METAvivor Voice and engage directly with elected officials to influence funding for MBC research and legislation that can improve quality of life and care for MBC patients.
Support
We provide information, support and resources that empower people living with MBC to find hope, build community, and achieve their best outcomes. These include Peer to Peer Support groups that are active in many communities across the United States, providing safe and supportive spaces for those living with MBC to exchange advice, encouragement and resources.
