On April 4, 2021, Colleen Kearney of Alexandria Virginia ,age 47, passed away after a three-year battle with metastatic breast cancer, supported by her many loving friends and family. She is survived by her parents Barry and Gail Kearney of Columbia Maryland, her brother Christopher of Lutz, Florida, and her beloved Havanese, Ollie. She was born in Buffalo New York and eventually moved to Columbia Maryland as a child with her parents.
She attended local schools and later graduated from American University with a double major in literature and music. Colleen is also a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law and was a member of the Florida Bar. Her interest in Intellectual Property Law led her to a career with the United States Patent and Trademark Office where she worked as a trademark examiner and ultimately an attorney in the Commissioners’ Office.
Colleen loved all kinds of music and was an accomplished bassoon player. She was a member of the Washington Conservatory Orchestra and her twice a year concerts were a delight to her family and friends.
