Sandra Lotz Becker (Sandy), a resident of Fairfax, VA (formerly of Abington, PA), passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, at the age of 58.
Sandy was born on November 15, 1966 in Philadelphia to the late Robert and Suzanne (née Wells) Lotz. She was an incredible mother to sons Eric and Andrew, the loves of her life. She is also survived by her beloved sisters Donna (Michael) Weber, and Christina (Anthony) Sivo, and “favorite” nieces and nephews Bailey, Julie, Logan, Peyton, Joseph, and Matthew.
Sandy lived with purpose, filling the world around her with love, laughter, and always a touch of purple. She was a lifelong learner and earned a Doctorate of Education in Human and Organizational Learning from The George Washington University. She mastered the role of “solution architect,” able to creatively problem-solve any challenge.
Even in the face of her cancer diagnosis, Sandy’s quick wit, generosity, and curiosity brought light to everyone she knew. She embraced life fully, “doing the thing” with grounded hope – finding joy in shopping trips, lively roundtable conversations on Long Beach Island, NJ, and even a trip to Spain in her final months. She cherished time with her sisters, cousins, and lifelong friends, whom she loved dearly.
Above all, Sandy’s greatest pride was being mom to Eric and Andrew. She adored listening to their music, cheering at baseball and hockey games, and watching them grow into remarkable young men. Her legacy lives on in them, and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.
A memorial service will be held at Burke Presbyterian Church, located at 5690 Oak Leather Dr, Burke, VA, on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 11 a.m. Friends and family are invited to greet the family starting at 10:15 a.m. and are encouraged to wear purple, her favorite color.
